This is a 3D western environment I created for a cancelled slot game. It was modeled in 3DS Max and ZBrush. I pulled satellite DEM data from locations throughout the west, including Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and New Mexico, and then sculpted additional details in ZBrush. The textures are largely Max procedurals, and rendering was done in Mental Ray. The conifer and non-descript bush models were assets from Evermotion, converted to Mental Ray proxies and scattered by hand with Object Paint in 3DS. Rendering time was about an hour per frame on an i7-8700K.
I included a couple alternate versions for fun.
